Faculty of Hip Hop articles....
While doing some house cleaning of the pc sort I’ve stumbled upon some interesting articles and insights that were submitted to The Faculty (H.H.E.S.A). The current website in under construction and will be up and running early 2010. This is one of many articles, enjoy….

DJ KRUSH
I’m a bit upset when I got the call and was asked to play alongside DJ KRUSH and I had to turn it down due to a booking I had in another city. I mean DJ KRUSH the dude with iventive sampling, creative production arrangement and just nice basic cutting to spice up his audio concontions. It took me back to ‘95/96 when KRUSH & SHADOW where on the forefront of experimental hip hop...
Funny how...
Funny how we talk about a better tommorow when that tommorow is actually today. Funny how money can test your morals when your stomach empty when you claim it’s not “about the money.” Funny how we recognise 9 official languages when we know that there’s more than 9 in this country. Funny how we as hip hop artist perform for a “just cause” or benefit just...

Random thoughts.
Upon viewing ShizNizz on Etv I kept on thinking how easy it is to drop albums left right and centre. Hosting a radio show we are bombarded with so much material to push from up and coming artist. All are hopefull in making loads of money, making music their full time carreers and making it “big”. Though it’s not wrong to make money, brush your teeth with champagne or any of...

I’m thankfull that my site will be up and running in a couple of days time and that this site is a nice alternative to share not just music but other related thoughts. With so many networks it’s hard to keep up lol. Some of my music and mixtapes are available on www.soundloud.com/dj-azuhl. I recorded a total of 15 mixtapes this year that includes collaborative ones ranging from hip...
I remember...
I remember the BASE-24 hour hip hop jams and gatsby competitions, I remember TV2 and Zero Hour Zone catching glimpses out rap videos, I remember P.O.C doing Rapping for Democracy showin’ youths across South Africa how to exercise their vote, I remember Do for self concerts, projects and Black Noise initiating bboy workshops at Westrigde City, I remember Town Centre doing my first...
What does it take?
Travelling around South Africa it ’s astounding for me to see that the thing replacing skill in Mzansi is swagga. Gone are the days where skill and originality took precedence over what’s out there or what’s hot. I always encounter youths that ask me, “What does it take for me to make it in this music bizz”. It’s simple…..SELF DISCIPLINE. It’s the easiest thing to do yet the most difficult too....
Inspirational soundscapes...
I’m always asked to give my favourite run down on music. I’m gonna list my favourite which serve as constant inspiration and that has contributed to hip hop, scratch music, hip hop deejaying and music in general in my view. It’s aim is not to serve as guide but just as a list of essentials. Here goes: Old school artist: Growing up in Mitchell’s Plain hip hop had an...
Article by Christie Z Pabon
I found this article on www.turntablistnetwork.com and just found it interesting to share. Compiled by Christie Z (Tools of War) & Sondra of Premiere Artists Group Peace all, Sondra and I brainstormed on some fatal mistakes DJs make that lead to career slumps or demise. We also added some things we see artists doing that have led to bigger success. Do’s for your consideration: 1. Be on...

Eish what a year...
What a year it’s been! I’m thankful for all the lessons learnt and mistakes made lol. The Faculty of Hip Hop was inactive this year due to decisions made by my partners to take a time out…and it was a good decision. We are running programs and events full swing next year insallah. This year my energy went into making Classics a sucess. After 10 parties it’s safe to say...
